Frequently Asked Questions
What is Craniosacral Therapy?
Craniosacral therapy (CST) is a gentle hands-on treatment that may provide relief from a variety of symptoms including headaches, neck pain and side effects of cancer treatment among many others.
CST uses a light touch to examine membranes and movement of fluids in and around the central nervous system. Relieving tension in the central nervous system promotes a feeling of well-being by eliminating pain and boosting health and immunity.
The focus of CST is a gentle placement of hands to assist release of the body’s connective tissue, or “fascia.” Fascia (Latin word for “band”) is a covering found throughout the body including organs, glands, nerves, muscles, blood vessels, brain and spinal cord. This covering forms a body-wide connective network. CST is based on the idea that the body is interrelated at all levels.
CST is thought to improve efficiency of biological processes through boosting inherent self-regulation, self-correction and self-healing. The therapy can be used successfully with children and adults.

What is Reiki?
Reiki (pronounced ‘ray-key’) is a simple Japanese energy-balancing technique used by hundreds of thousands of people all over the world. Reiki translates as "spiritual energy" and is a system of meditative practices used to help bring the body, mind, and spirit back to harmony and balance. An energy healing treatment that works on the entire person, Reiki complements both conventional and holistic approaches to healing.
The purpose of receiving Reiki is to relieve stress and pain, induce relaxation, release emotional blockages, accelerate natural healing, balance subtle bodies energies and support other medical modalities including traditional therapies. Reiki is administered in a relaxing session where natural healing vibrations are transmitted through the hands of a Reiki practitioner to the body of the recipient.
While Reiki can be spiritual in nature, it is not a religion. It has no dogma and is not dependent upon belief. Because Reiki and spirituality both focus on self-care, it has been embraced for spiritual healing by practitioners of many faiths, including Christianity, Judaism, Islam, and Buddhism.
Today, as a means to accelerate the healing process and to alleviate pain. Reiki is offered free of charge in more than 800 American Hospitals, including Beaumont, Henry Ford Macomb, John Hopkins, Cleveland Clinic, Columbia University, Duke and Sloan-Kettering.

What is a treatment like?
We start off talking about what is going on in your life and the what brought you to the session. The client then lies fully clothed on a comfortable table and the practitioner will gently lay or hover their hands on the body in a series of positions on or over the head and shoulders, torso, and legs. Each hand posture is held for a few minutes. Calming music is played throughout the session.
What will I feel?
Many say their sessions feels like a deep glowing radiance. Deeply relaxing, you may feel heat from the practitioner‘s hands, perhaps tingling, a feeling of floating or sinking, or perhaps nothing at all. Some doze off although it varies from one person to another. No matter what you feel during your treatment, you are getting what your body your needs.
What are you doing to prevent the spread of covid?
Jeanette is fully vaccinated to protect both herself and those she comes into contact with. She continues to practice social distancing in her daily life. Along with wearing a KN95 mask during the session, she refreshes and clears the air in the studio between each client. If there is anything else she can do to make you more comfortable, please just ask. Distance sessions are a great option for those who are still feel uncomfortable in person.
What is a distance session like?
While in person sessions are recommended, because you can be treated with both Craniosacral and Reiki, Jeanette also offers distance sessions of Reiki only. Since Reiki is energy work, it works over any distance. These are a great option if you are unable to travel to Linden. She is able to send the energy directly to you, wherever you may be. You'll chat on the phone before, and then you'll lay still and nap, sit comfortably and relax in a location of your choice during your session. These can also be scheduled for bedtime/nighttime if you keep busy days.
Many people are able to relax completely during these sessions, often falling off to sleep and those who are energy sensitive can often feel heat or tingles of where Jeanette is working on their body.

Can I tell whether you are doing Reiki or CST on me?
Jeanette's sessions are a mixture of both Reiki and CST. As a practitioner, she will communicate with your body and spirit and do maneuvers they indicate you may need. You will often receive Reiki throughout the entire session, along with a mixture of CST releases.

Do you offer animal Reiki and CST?
Animals, in fact, often love Reiki and will gravitate towards it. Just like people, pets can have occasional imbalances and Reiki can enhance their overall natural state of well being, strengthen the immune system, accelerate healing and help with behavior issues by promoting stress reduction. Pet sessions typically last 15-30 minutes and are given either in the pet’s home or as a distance treatment.
How many sessions are recommended?
While one session will be beneficial, bringing a sense of calm and peacefulness, and maybe producing some short-term physical benefits, the best results come through having a course of treatments at weekly or biweekly intervals. The effects build up cumulatively, and having a regimen helps to produce long-term positive changes on many levels. We recommend you begin with three treatments, with one each week, before passing judgement.
Are these treatments a substitute for seeing my doctor?
No, CST and Reiki are not a substitute for medical treatment. If you have any symptoms of illness you should
consult your doctor. A practitioner will not diagnose conditions or recommend any form of treatment. Both Craniosacral Therapy and Reiki are safe and complement conventional and holistic approaches to healing.
